bush cabinet defections - trickle turns to stream

and the resignations continue...

Powell and Three Others Leaving Cabinet

Secretary of State Colin Powell and three other Cabinet members have resigned, escalating the shake-up of President Bush's second-term team.

(snip)

With the resignations earlier of Attorney General John Ashcroft and Commerce Secretary Donald Evans, at least six of 15 Cabinet members are leaving, a musical-chairs act that assures Bush a significant Cabinet face-lift with his second inauguration over two months away.

(snip)

"Secretary Powell's departure is a loss to the moderate internationalist voices in the Bush administration," said New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, a former U.N. ambassador in the Clinton administration. "Hopefully, his replacement will be a pragmatist rather than an ideologue."

dont hold your breath, richardson.

For many months, Powell had been viewed as a one-term secretary of state but he has always been vague about his intentions. He had said repeatedly in recent weeks that he serves at "the pleasure of the president."

Powell's role in shaping foreign policy was one of promoting moderation and traditional diplomatic alliances with friendly nations. His influence was measured, though, since most of Bush's other senior advisers generally took a harder line and they often prevailed.

i like colin powell. although he HAS sold his soul to the devil, he has always seemed to me to be somewhat geniunely bothered by it.

hmm, i wonder why bush's cabinet is, for lack of a better word, FLEEING so rapidly? i can't IMAGINE why.

thoughts?

oh, and another frightening headline:

Rice Is Top Candidate to Replace Powell

National security adviser Condoleezza Rice emerged as the likely candidate on Monday to replace resigning Secretary of State Colin Powell, Republican sources said.

pro: first black female secretary of state
con: she's eeeeevil.

Francesca, the book would be redundent. Pretty much everything there is to know about this admin, its movers and decsions is out there already. Chronicled by insiders like Richard Clarke, Paul O'Neill andthe CIA officer who just came out as "Anonymous."

The American publ;ic has had 2 years to look it over and still they voted these monsters back in. THe problem with the cabinet oepnings is that the few moderates who were in place will be replaced by Neo-con hardliners.

the trickle becomes a stream? If you are at all aware of the typical trends of presidential administrations in their second terms, you would realize that this is normal and to be expected. Cabinet member's resignations do not necessarily signify corruption or wrong-doing. This happens every time an administration carries over to a second term.

enough with the conspiracy theories.

Actually Richard Thorne was Secretary of State or something in The Omen. Maybe he was chairman of the joint chief of staff?

Damien Thorne, the antichrist, was his son.

"anonymous":

1) if you're going to make wild assumptions about my posts and insult me, at least have the BALLS to identify yourself.

2) "the trickle becomes a stream" was this thing called stating the obvious. perhaps you've heard of it? 2 people could be called a trickle. in this vein, 6 people could therefore be referred to as a stream. if you are at all aware of the typical trends of mathematics, you would realize that 6 is more than 2.

3) referring to the difficulty of staying in bush's cabinet during such insane tumultous times as these is a "conspiracy theory"? interesting. and i am indeed aware that cabinets always change for second term presidents. colin powell does have a history of clashing with the far right-wing hardliners... but most likely i think he's just tired out... who wouldnt be? i never mentioned "corruption or wrong-doing"... that was actually your own reading.

and "enough with the conspiracy theories"? god, i love a man who tells me what i should write on my own blog, while concurrently misunderstanding my statements. yes massah, i'll do exactly what you say. i hadnt realized that i was offending you. i cry your pardon!

to sum up, fuck off, you arrogant, paranoid, condescending piece of shit. if you dont like what i have to say, then dont read my blog.
